How do I move through the city...?
Obliviously, yet confidently, I suppose. I'm a creature of habit, so I travel routes I know - I could do them in my sleep. Yet, at the same time, because of that, I don't pay attention to them. There's many a time where I'm like "Why did that happen?"
Likewise, though I like my little adventures that I go on on occasion, I think it would be hard for me to "drift" - I would be practically frozen in terror as to how I'll get home. When I adventure, I know exactly how to get there, how to get home... that's the only way I can manage to do go outside my comfort bubble. Meticulously planned.

*highfive* for Scaredy Squirrel!
ReplyDeleteAfter reading a lot of the blogs I find that most of us are absolutely alike: we've got our routes "meticulously planned" and drifting is not something we readily engage in. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one out there who gets a little anxious when I don't know how to get from A to B. I can't help but feel that my knowledge of Edmonton is extremely limited by the way in which I move with the city's current.
ReplyDeleteI agree that sometimes its hard to "drift" within the city since there's always the fear or not finding your way home. When I was younger, I had gotten lost during Heritage Days and I literally just stopped moving and started crying for my parents. Even now, when I fall asleep on the bus and thus, miss my stop (which is starting to happening more and more sadly)I freak out because I feel as though I don't know where I am - even though I've probably been in the general area before.
ReplyDeleteI find it interesting that we all have these meticulously planned routes that we all travel on and know from habit - but at the same time, we don't really pay attention to the different aspects to those paths.
